The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger
5.0
Let’s face it millions of us feel that we understand what it is like to be what they call a ‘DUFF’. I started to think that this book was going to be a classic unpopular girl, Bianca Piper and popular guy, Wesley Rush; kind of story. But there is so much more to the book.
Bianca is a girl who speaks out. She's over filling with wit and problems. Even though Wesley is jerk, he has his own problems.
Bianca starts using the popular guy, Wesley, to forget about her problems. Soon she see what she is doing is wrong and that she needs to face her problems. Poor Bianca, she seems to always have something going on. While finally getting the guy she that she wanted but then reality shows up. She has to face the truth, again. I enjoyed the wit and the love hate relationship between Bianca and Wesley. I couldn't help hope they would end up together.
There is so many lesson to learn from this book. Following your heart, being yourself and knowing life isn't far. These are lessons that most YA book seen seem to cover and they are ones that I believe need to be thought over and over.
This book also covers the power of friendship. The ride Bianca friendships goes on only made it stronger. In high school drama and fights pull friends apart; this book shows that friends can come over come fights.
With this said this book was a fun read. I enjoyed the wit and brightness of the characters and the classic twist on the unpopular and popular; also I can't wait to see the movie.
