Toil and Trouble by Charlotte E. English

4.0

This book was so endearing! There were a couple of the same issues when it came to some words feeling pompous and forced, but otherwise I devoured this book.

The storytelling was really good and progressed at a really good pace. I was invested in the adventure / quest / mission from the beginning, and that only intensified as I read more. There was an instance of really amazing writing where the reader is told the characters only have ten minutes and then the pace slows down. It made me anxious in the way a good plot device does!

As sad as it was to see less of the Baron, I really enjoyed the new characters. The mystery surrounding Zareen and George is super interesting and I hope we get to find out more in the next book! And I'm loving the progression of Jay and Ves' relationship; they have good rapport and bounce off each other well.

I'm excited to read the next one. Hopefully it is just as good!
