The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas

5.0

Two cheerleaders died in a car accident, then two were killed, and finally one committed suicide. This happened five years ago. Now the town wants to remember them, but for Monica, its only bringing back more unanswered questions, mysteries and she isn’t convinced its as cut and dry as everyone else seems to think; what really happened five years ago, and is it really over?

I’m a bit of a sucker for teenage drama coupled with mystery and murder, so this ticked all the right boxes for me. I listened to the audiobook and did not want to turn it off for a moment. Monica was a strong female lead, who I loved instantly and could relate to. It was an easy listen, just enough suspense and side plots for it to be easy to follow but intense; and interesting enough to throw up more questions that keep you guessing. The ending was a little anticlimactic but not predictable and doesn’t affect how much I enjoyed the book. Would highly recommend to YA and mystery lovers.
