The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

it was alright! my non-spoiler thoughts are very simple. it was a book and i didn't hate reading it.

Spoileri don't usually notice this but all the character voices sounded the same to me which was distracting. also in the future in space would people still be using the plural you of "you guys" ??? this is the one that would make it?? it's not clear that they're speaking english tbh (i kind of felt like they weren't) so why would it be written this way in the book? did not like that at all even though this is the plural you i grew up with

also that, especially during the middle, it just felt episodic which for a book i didn't love. like it was all "ok here's the chapter about This Crewmember where something happens with them. now here's the episode about this Other Crewmember" it wasn't like. terrible but it was jarring and i didn't really like it. i honestly wondered if she had posted chapters of this online first because that would make more sense for the book

also on a personal level remember how i played mass effect 3 and told joker and edi not to date each other and the game clearly made it seem like this was the evil option to choose. remember when i hated the movie HER because it sucked ass. anyway. just thinking about that. we ARE reading the sequel for next time though so it's about to be HER-hater central in here

i don't know what to say in book club for this other than the thing in the second spoiler paragraph. do people actually say "light globes". i've only heard that in one place
