Waiting for the Flood by Alexis Hall
5.0
Although Waiting for the Flood is a novella, I honestly didn't feel robbed of... anything. I got a clear picture of the background, a lovely view of the present situation and a wonderful image of what the MCs' future together might be like, and I loved it all.
It's no secret that Alexis Hall is a wordsmith. I live for the way he entwines simple language with less frequently used words and draws me into the rich and intriguing worlds he creates for his characters. It's his emotional intelligence though that seals the deal and steals my heart. Every. Single. Time.
This is, as he admits, a quiet book. But it was no less powerful to me. The beauty of these men: the kindness, the vulnerability, their impact on each other and on me - was intense, even in such a short book.
Yet again I'm feeling tremendous gratitude for the unexpected and exquisite delight that is Alexis Hall and his writing
