If I Were You: A Novel by Lynn Austin
4.0
4 stars - Listened via borrowed audiobook.
The narrator did a great job.
I bought the second book without knowing it was a series so I borrowed this audiobook to listen to it first.
I really enjoyed this story. It isn’t easy to listen to how terribly difficult it was for those in-and affected by-the war. However, it is needed. The atrocities are beyond measure. We must never forget, erase, or edit that.
I did find that the book went on a little longer than I felt was needed for the story. Audrey and Eve are quite different but they balanced each other and learned from one another. I admittedly wanted to smack Eve a few times and I rolled my eyes at Audrey but it’s a reflection of how we all have faults and quirks. Sometimes pain and desperation causes foolish and/or painful decisions. It’s hard to imagine someone stealing a friend’s identity. The mercy and grace of God was evident in this story. I will definitely be reading the second book.
