This is a fantasy romance but there's no romance in this first book. In fact it's a series of terrible men (who are acknowledged as terrible generally) as this poor weird girl with tentacles gets abused a whole lot. I'm not a fan of that part but I love the world building. It's inspired by the story of Midas but it's a huge departure in my opinion and I love that.
