Baxter: A Novel of Inhuman Evil by Jessica Hamilton
3.75
This was a deeply unpleasant book, in which almost every character is some degree of either psychopathic and cruel, or severely damaged. It was much less pulpy and B-movie than I was expecting. For reasons clear to anyone who's read it, I was reminded throughout of Stephen King's Apt Pupil.
I was unprepared for the Eva Braun masturbation scenes.
It was somehow still really quite good, though, and it did an excellent job of getting into the heads of its gnarled characters, especially the titular Baxter.
