No. 6, Volume 1 by Atsuko Asano, Hinoki Kino
5.0
Shion lives in a Utopian society where everything seems perfect, yet he's not content and is already starting to wonder about things when Rat stumbles into his room on a stormy night. This single act sends his life in a downward spiral, forcing him to leave everything behind. Mix in a bit of mystery concerning life sucking bees and you have the beginnings of an interesting tale to discover the secret behind No.6.
I originally watched the anime first, but only got a chance to see a few episodes due to Hulu not posting the rest. This first volume reads exactly like the anime (with the exception of Rat's name actually being translated to Rat) and does a good job showing you how curious and innocent Shion is at the beginning. In reading the manga now, I found myself again curious about Rat and his back story and his relationship with Shion. Plus the bees are an interesting sub plot and I'm very curious to see how the patented 'anime mind fuck' will play out in this one. Once I'm done with the manga, I'll probably go back and finish watching the anime.
