The beginning was difficult to get into initially.  I felt like we were dropped in at an odd time and didn’t have time to establish a relationship to the characters before the first big “catalyst event”.

However, we get to see more and more of each of the characters as the story goes on.

Tessa is a clever thief that works to deliver medicine to the people of The Wilds. After her partner is killed by the Kings Justice, Tessa finds herself wandering into the castle and ending up in a precarious situation.

Along the way, we get to know Prince Corrine, King Harristan, Place Master Quint, and the consuls of the surrounding sectors.

With political intrigue, a strained romance, and a revolution in the horizon, Tessa must work with the feared royal family to protect the kingdom.
