THE HYPE IS REAL! There’s always a bit of risk when you pick up a book that seemingly everyone loves. Will it live up to the hype or will you inevitably be disappointed because your expectations are too high? So I was both nervous and excited to read Seven Days In June.
Y’all, this book is exquisite.
It’s simultaneously hilarious, heartwarming, sexy, and serious. Williams managed to tell a gorgeous love story, while also examining childhood trauma, the whitewashing of Black characters, motherhood, and chronic illness. These characters were fantastic and complex and I was so rooting for them.
Graphic: Drug use and Self harm
Moderate: Child abuse, Child death, Sexual assault, Suicide, and Car accident
