The Unbreakable Thread by Becca Baldwin
4.0
"The Unbreakable Thread" is my first Becca Baldwin book. I was drawn to East Asian lore around it and was curious to read a story centred around this thread. Becca words are almost poetic as she presents three reflective, mature and far from perfect characters who find themselves at different crossroads in their lives. They are all connected by an event that took place ten years ago. Henry is the best friend one wishes to have, the persistent romantic who never gives up. Gwen is a strong, self-sufficient woman who is overprotective of her loved ones. Shazan is lost and exists within dilapidated constructs of his cumulative choices. Lady Fate offers a second chance, and each embraces it in their unique way. There were times where I found the text to be a bit repetitive, and having characters not worry about their financial situations can be a little too imaginative. However, this does not wane from the central message. There is something beautiful of an inseverable bond that stands through the test of time; the beauty and strength of love. The ending brought a smile to my face! A 4.5 star read all the way!
