Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon

4.0

This novel was recommended to me by my lovely Grandma and she is known to pick a good book!

It’s so well written, that right from the start you can get lost in the story line and actually imagine you are there. I did listen to this on audible however, and it was spoken so badly. The voice was annoying and kept pausing, I thought audible had stopped sometimes because of the huge pauses between some sentences! But this review is for the book, not audible!

Sidney Sheldon writes a lot like Jeffry Archer in the way twists happen abruptly. It’s almost like the author is saying ‘how did you not see that coming?’ It naturally flows to the point where anything could happen to the characters and it wouldn’t be far-fetched.

Some parts are extremely annoying. The reader is aware of the ‘baddie’ in the book and the other characters don’t have a clue. You wish you could shake some of the characters and be like ‘she is trying to MURDER you constantly!’ But obviously books don’t work like that! (imagine how cool that would be!)

Some novels can be slow paced, following one character on their day to day mission of shopping, putting kids to bed, cooking, thinking how horrible their partner is etc. – YAWN! Master of the Game spans several generations. It’s like reading four stories in one with the amount of devilish characters, backstabbing plots, deaths and entertainment Sidney Sheldon throws at you.

I recommend this book if you want a jam packed, shocking storyline where you will love some characters but absolutely hate others. Very entertaining!
