In this volume, Lindon and Yerin accompany Eithan to Serpent's Grave, a city in the Blackflame Empire, where they continue their training under Eithan's guidance, which includes Lindon being given the opportunity to select a path to follow. Meanwhile, Jai Long embarks on his quest for revenge against the members of his clan.
The characters within this series are well depicted and come in a variety of personalities, both likeable and not-so-likeable, with different outlooks and desires, not to mention paths and techniques.
While there is still a fair bit of light-heartedness contained within this story, it does take a more serious and darker turn as all the characters either advance along their paths or spirit levels or their goals start to come to fruition.
Each book so far has been a step up from the previous one and is becoming more addictive with each page turned.
