The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

adventurous mysterious
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Loveable characters? Yes

4.5

Mystery isn't my favorite genre, so I got a little impatient with the whodunnit-ness of the plot (also,
Irene is totally the child in the Grimm story, right? how long until she realizes the Big Bad is her uncle?
). But it's a fun multiverse fantasy that sets up a universe for more rollicking adventures with librarians and dragons, which is worth at least four stars.

Also,
I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for Kai and Vale and Irene (and maybe Bradament) to become a little polycule... although I'll settle for Kai and Vale coupling up while Irene and Bradament explore an enemies-to-lovers arc. Cuz the only thing better than a metafictional multiverse fantasy with dragons and librarians is a *~gay~* metafictional multiverse fantasy with dragons and librarians.
