Officers and Gentlemen by Evelyn Waugh

3.0

Officers and Gentlemen is a lot more serious than its predecessor in the Swords of Honour series. I enjoyed seeing the characters again and exploring what they were up to.
The retreat from Crete was interesting with the variety of perspectives and actions of those who were experiencing it. Guy’s actions were well written and I do like him as a character.
Overall though, although by rights I should have really enjoyed this book there was something that stopped me from fully losing myself in it. I don’t know what it was, but it was a shame as I could identify it was a good book.
