Moderate: Death, Domestic abuse, Genocide, Racial slurs, and Racism
It's easy to read and it's not very deep. It presents a Christian dream world with very patriarchal structures. It shines a very positive light on the settlers, without (for the most part) acknowledging the genocide and torment of the Native population. (I'm not saying that every individual settler is a horrible person, but one must not forget what their "discovery" of the land caused). A relationship between a Native women and one of the settlers is described. This part was especially hard to read as one of the other characters talks about how horribly "race mixing" is and how God is against it. The author and the other characters barley oppose these statements. In the end this situation is "resolved" by the male character marrying a white women (and thereby coming to his "senses" and doing "what's right"). I understand why people read these books as they represent a very romantizised world view, but I believe there are better, less racist and sexist (and especially more honest) depictions to be found.
