Masters of Death by Olivie Blake

4.0

“Things are so much sweeter when they have an ending; things are so much more painful when they can be ripped away.”

I think that everything Olivie Blake writes is perfection, but let me try to actually formulate some thoughts about this book.

People who aren’t fans of her books make the criticism that nothing really happens in her books and that they’re basically just characters standing around having weird conversations (which i personally love), but this book was definitely that to the max. Because when you think about it, not much actually physically happened in this book. Which I loved, but some people may not.

As far as the characters go, characters are still one of Blake’s biggest strengths and this book proves that. Fox?? Vi?? Mayra?? Too good. And I loved the romance in this, too. There were several couples however the romance had just the right level of subtleness to allow the plot (or lack thereof) to shine.

I will say, the concept of the game was somewhat confusing to me. I didn’t mind that, because it felt like it was purposeful to a certain degree, but still a valid complaint.

Anyway, loved this. And the vibes were so good for fall. Not my favourite Olivie book, probably not even top 3. But still amazingggg
