“ You're on board the first non-stop flight from London to Sydney. It's a landmark journey, and the world is watching. Shortly after take-off, you receive a chilling anonymous note.

DO YOU SAVE HUNDREDS OF LIVES? OR THE ONE THAT MATTERS MOST? “

Adam and Mina are separated and have a daughter who they adopted when she was a baby. Adam is a police man in a tricky situation and Mina is part of the crew on the flight to Sydney. Mina receives a note not long after take off and suddenly she’s living a parent’s worst nightmare - does she do what they say and save her daughter?

I’ve read most of this authors books so was hopeful even though I’d heard this isn’t one of her best. It did have a slow start but I kept at it and luckily it got there in the end, and even though I saw quite a few twists coming, I didn’t see the very last one which was a pleasant surprise!

This is another multiple view point chapter book which flitted between Adam, Mina and individual unnamed passengers on the plane. This helps build an overall picture but I did find the flitting back and forth took away from the build up of the plane situation which didn’t feel as tense and it should have done. I enjoyed the individual passenger stories though which were titled only by their seat number - they added another angle and the inclusion for them becomes apparent towards the end.

Although there is background stories all round, when I was half way through I found I wasn’t sure if I had connected with any of the characters - but there was one specific moment where I actually teared up towards the last third so that confirmed I was attached in some way! Doesn’t help that I also have a little girl and so some of the emotions were very relatable - although thankfully imaginary!
