House of Dreams: The Life of L. M. Montgomery by Liz Rosenberg
4.0
I grew up reading a manga series of biographies intended for middle-grade readers, one of which was L. M. Montgomery's biography (cover shown below).

Hers was my favorite because as a person afflicted with poor writing skills, I admire anyone who could fill up pages of notebooks with writings. But I remember that even this manga marketed for children had a hard time white-washing the misery of Montgomery’s marriage, so it's unsurprising that House of Dreams left me with heavy heart. Indeed, she was the kind of writer for whom writing was the source of life, both spiritually and practically.
