The Hope We Keep by Kyla Stone
5.0
Hang on tight, here comes the roller coaster ride!
Kyla Stone has done it again. The Hope We Keep, third in the Lost Light Series, picks up right where The Dark We Seek left off.
This is, for me, the most action-packed book Kyla has penned. That doesn't stop the ongoing character development as you can't help but be drawn in closer to those characters you've grown to love over the first two books. Of course there are also a few characters you want to throat-punch.
Set in the UP, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, The Hope We Keep is a story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world. There are vivid (though not overbearing) descriptions of the landscape, the people, and their trial and tribulations.
Kyla is a fantastic storyteller. When I began this book it was with the understanding that it would be the conclusion of the series. About halfway through I thought to myself, "Not even Kyla can wrap this story up in half a book." I was thrilled to find out there is indeed a fourth book coming.
I wouldn't mind a fifth, six, or seventh. I've become invested in the lives of Shiloh, Eli, Lena, Jackson, Bear, and others.
If you're a fan of great stories, humanly flawed characters, and good writing, get yourself a copy of The Hope We Keep (but read The Light We Lost and The Dark We Seek first!)
I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) of this book, which is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Kyla!
