Dancing and Disaster by Charlotte E. English

4.0

Although there have been a few comedic moments throughout this series, English has really got the hang of making things funny as well as her comedic timing in this book! The first chapter, especially, had me laughing to myself and had my dogs looking at me like "what's so funny?"
The opening chapter was so intriguing and attention-grabbing that, even if you hadn't read this series before, you would want to read this book.

It was an absolute CHORE to put this down and not devour it in one sitting. The only reason I did stop reading is because my phone ran out of charge! But I still finished the book in under a day, so it didn't hinder me much haha.

I was excited to finally hear about Mauf, but unfortunately it was, like the Pup in the previous instalment, a comment that felt lacking in substance and an after-thought. We didn't hear more of Pup or Miranda, either, since that very small reunion at the end of the last book. It just felt a bit like an "oh! I forgot to include these characters. How do I bring them in without changing the plot I have going?"

Otherwise, I still really enjoyed this book, though. It kept me on my toes throughout the entire thing! There were some really shocking and unpredictable elements to the narrative, which is something I would assume is usually difficult to do when you've been opening these characters up to the audience for 10 books.

Also, I adored the explanation of Ves' asexuality. What a queen. Jay's reaction was super sweet and heart-warming, as well. What a power couple, whether romantic or not. I love these characters so much, it's insane.
