This installment starts playing more with the idea that Shen Qingqiu still thinks he's in a badly written stallion novel but the reader knows he's in a goofy isekai romance, which creates so many interesting layers to the story. MXTX has a talent for understanding exactly when being "predictable" (genre abiding) is most satisfying and fun, and when to subvert tropes for greater effect.
