From a Buick 8 by Stephen King
3.0
Much like a good book is never long enough and a bad book is never short enough, an okay book can overstay its welcome. That's this book.
Like most of King's work, this book isn't about what it's about, but rather about the characters and their relationships. But, unlike King's BEST work, which is also about the plot as well as though relationships and has a lot going on, this book stagnates part way through and has surprisingly little substance for knocking on 400 pages.
By the end, the folksy, meandering tangents and inner thoughts of characters got tiring and I found myself skipping more and more words, and eventually even entire paragraphs, skimming my way through almost the entire final 10% of the book looking for the parts pertaining to the actual plot.
