The Rose & the Dagger by Renée Ahdieh
5.0
I don't really know what my expectations for the second book were supposed to be, but whatever they were this definitely exceeded them.
To start off my review, I loved the epilogue, it really touched everything nicely and it was a sweet ending to a miraculous story.
I loved how the second book really dove deeper into the magical aspect of the story, it was definitely something I wanted more of in the first book and it was written wonderfully in the second.
The twists and turns in this book added immensely to my love for this book and the character relationships and dialogue were as bright as ever.
I also loved the part Shazi's father- Jahandar- played in the story. Although he got on my nerves at times. I think his character is a perfect portrayal of how even good intentions can turn evil. So evil, it consumes us and turns us into everything we never intended to become. It's an amazing portrayal of Renee's writing and her ability as an author and I loved that.
