The tension built really well up to this point in the story. But now, even though the main character is terrified, anxious, and suspicious, she’s making stupid mistakes (without alcoholic influence) that put her seriously at risk. Like having sex on the back deck of her house and then falling asleep out there, when up to this point she’s been paranoid about people watching her house and locking the doors obsessively. It felt like a lapse in characterization to open the plot up to more danger etc in a way that didn’t make sense for the character.
