I had perused this book several times before finally buying it since the mixture of Mayan mythology and Jazz music, which the synopsis implied was a major part of the story, didn't strike me as very compelling, as I'm not a fan of Jazz. However, I eventually decided to give it a go, which I'm glad I did.
Apart from being set in the Jazz period, and mentioned a few times, it plays no part in the story, the Mayan mythology, however, does, and this makes for an intriguing storyline.
This is a charming and captivating tale that is character-centric, though the settings and the Mayan mythology are richly described, making this an enjoyable relaxing read.
