The Nanny Proposal by Lucy Lennox
fast-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
2.0
I knew this was a short book as soon as I added it to SG but I wasn't prepared for how short it felt. The writing was done well and the narration is AMAZING, but it definitely toed the line of telling us a bunch of backstory instead of showing us in a more natural way. This was two miscommunications too many for me to really enjoy it - which seems unlikely since it is such a fast read.
And the way the ex is vilified for a chapter just to have a "totally reasonable explanation of being cautious/concerned about her children" hit me really wrong: stop vilifying the female characters in MM books, it's unnecessary! If Grant had communicated with his ex half as much as he should have, she never would have acted the way she did (according to the last mentions of her).
Also, why does such a short story need two epilogues? C'mon
