In this book, the main character Jude is trying to maintain her newfound power in the Elfhame Kingdom.

This book is so much better than The Cruel Prince. The scheming by Jude was very intriguing, as she tried to maintain significance in the Elfhame Court it became a constant battle against everyone in her inner circle. In the last book, Jude was good at piecing together bits of information and was underestimated by others. However, in this book, Jude had all the pieces and refused to piece anything together. It was one of the most frustrating things about Jude. She had all of the pieces and still thinking and questioning herself, and still trusting the people who would betray her. The fact that Jude ended up where she did was surprising but not too shocking since she refused to question the people around her.

Overall, this book was better than The Cruel Prince. I can't wait to read The Queen of Nothing.
