Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three by Mara Leveritt
3.0
3.5/5 stars rounded down. Audio book. I downloaded this book because I am fascinated by the West Memphis Three case. It is amazing that these three men were convicted with a botched, false confession and little else. This book provides a LOT of detail into the case, which would be almost impossible to convey in a true crime podcast. It is 15 hours of eyewitness information, background on the lawyers and cases, and just how distraught and sad this whole situation was for everyone involved.
I rated it 3.5/5 because the narrator was not that great. She took away from the story and her voice was annoying. That is a personal opinion, but it made me not want to listen. I had to power through the audio book. I also though the amount of information was distracting at times, and a lot of the information was repeated. I understand that the author is trying to convey that these teenage boys were wrongly accused, but it was annoying to hear the same points over and over again.
I would recommend but be warned of my issues above!
