This was my first time reading SGJ. I see now that he has a very distinct writing style. I enjoyed the conversational first person. However, there were a lot of times that it felt TOO rambly. The long tangents took me out the story. It gave me whiplash going back and forth from the actual story and a random side tangent for a page and a half.
I think I expected this to be scarier - slashier. There were some good slasher scenes, but I just kept finding myself wanting more. I kept reading because I thought for sure something more was going to happen. I finished it feeling slightly disappointed.
The ending was very unexpectedly emotional. I liked the ending, but I'm not sure it was worth everything before it.
