Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore by Italo Calvino
5.0
Probably the last time I was so immersed into the development of a story was while reading Stig Larsson's trilogy. But "Se una notte d'inverno" can boast an incomparably musical, light sentence structure and a vivid fanstasy that opens a door into other worlds. If there are films for cinefiles, this is the book for literature junkies: the novel evloves around the world of books, their writing, reading, publishing, criticism, its personages and readers, scientists and criminals, and, of course, the effect they have on the reader. Some of the stories seemed like prototypes of some fantasy movies that I've seen, by the way, though I don't remember which ones exactly - there is a terrible mess of storylines and parallel worlds in my mind, after finishing this book. One of the effects intended by the writer, probably.
