A Short History of Drunkenness by Mark Forsyth

4.0

An enjoyable romp through our past as drunks, though I find it curious that Forsyth didn't make the connection between "we developed a gene to allow us to drink" and "water was pretty deadly to us, so we drank alcohol" as an evolutionary pressure towards our drinking genes. This despite the fact that he definitely brought up both the evolutionary pressure, and the water thing. It was just interesting, and probably indicative of the amount of histories I've been reading lately.
