Pretty Little Pieces by Carmen Schober
3.0
Stars: ⭐️⭐️ & 1/2 (2.5 stars - rounded up to 3)
Read: March 2024
Format: paperback
Challenge Prompt: ARoCF’s “Read a CF book with a character that works in the trades”
Book #29 of 2024: I like renovation/restoration shows. I expected this book to be fun, creative, and right up my alley. To be honest, the FMC was difficult to like. The relationship wasn’t believable and seemed shallow. Their relationship seemed to be built on chemistry and the bathroom scene was uncomfortable.
I found my mind wandering and I began to read quickly in the last third. So much was going on that the characters started to blur for me. Sometimes too much is just a detraction.
The best parts of the book were where the design was the focus, Georgina (FMC) with Cassidy’s mom and the baking, and I loved Poppy. She was more appealing than the FMC.
I really wanted to like this book. I’m sorry but it fell very flat for me. It may appeal to others but it just wasn’t for me.
