Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

3.0

I was highly anticipating this new Elizabeth Acevedo release. The premise and story was very intriguing and the fact that it was in prose just like The Poet X (my fav.) was very exciting to see. I read this (and all her other books) through audio and I really love Elizabeth's narration but sadly Clap When You Land wasn't my favorite. Just like other reviews I've seen Camino and Yahaira voices felt similar and at times it was a bit confusing to follow who is who. Also the topics of grief was discussed but it didn't feel completely developed, I know everyone deals with grief in different ways but it just didn't feel completely developed for me. I did enjoy the exploration of figuring out what it means to be sisters/family, but overall I felt this story was good, Acevedo writing is one of the best their is currently but not a new favorite as I hoped.
