The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and review.

This book was just so cute and wonderful, exactly what I needed to read at the moment.

The story follows the main character, Stella. Stella comes from a close-knit family, she and her two siblings are triplets. Her brother and her would do anything for their sister who happens to have cancer. And it just so happens that their sister is a huge fan of The Heartbreakers, America's most famous boyband, a band neither one of them particularly likes. So Stella and her brother Drew make the trip to one of their autograph signings in the hopes of getting their sister Cara the best birthday present ever. As they get closer to the band Stella realizes that the guy she met (and flirted with) earlier that morning happens to be Oliver Perry, lead singer for The Heartbreakers, and they happen to being staying at the same hotel. After calling their music crap somehow Drew and Stella end up hanging out with the band all night and she even gets Oliver's phone number.

Stella was pretty cool, she was so sassy at time which I absolutely loved. She was pretty confident around her family and the guys but she still had insecurities about what she was doing with her life. I really enjoyed her bond with her siblings and how once Cara became diagnosed with cancer it wasn't even a question for Stella and Drew to both become homeschooled with her. I was glad she was able to gain confidence in her photography and that she plans on pursuing that.

The Heartbreakers remind me of a mix of One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, both of which I'm a fan of so I really enjoyed the band in the book. They were all fun and interesting and got along with Stella great. I'd probably say JJ is my favorite member of the band. I feel like we got to know him pretty well. He was always making me laugh and roll my eyes. Xander is the one I wish we got to know a bit more about, I feel like the only thing I remember about him is that he has a ton of food allergies.

This book had a really good balance between having a character who's sick and showing the struggles that come with that but also showing that there is still fun times to be had.

I saw that there is a sequel and it's got to do with Alec so I'm excited about that. I really did enjoy the characters so I'm glad I don't have to say goodbye just yet.
