Soul Eater by Lily Mayne
5.0
This book was absolute perfection from start to finish. I mean truly. Wyn?! My sweet, grumpy Wyn! And Danny?! So kind and thoughtful and empathetic! I love this man and this monster. This was my first foray into monster territory and let me tell you... do it. You will not regret it.
First, I just want to say the characters are unreal. Even the monsters are so comprehensive and multi dimensional. Next, the story is unique despite using some tried and true tropes. Finally, the romance is so sweet it could make me sick if I wasn't so obsessed with how sweet it is.
I like that we get a full backstory in just a few pages. It doesn't take long to immerse myself in this dystopian world. I love the insta-love (or at least insta-intrigue) Wyn shows Danny. Then, I love the struggles they go through as they navigate getting to know each other while being on the run. I enjoyed the military hunting them and I sobbed somewhere toward the middle. I continued feeling so much for these two as they tried to fix themselves after such traumatic experience.
Bottom line: I loved this book. Everyone should read this book. 3/5 spice levels.
Notes: grumpy/sunshine, virgin MC, dystopian world, monster/human, ptsd, trauma, sweetest love story, age gap (lol), insta love, imprinting, protective MC
