The World of Normal Boys by K.M. Soehnlein
5.0
The World of Normal Boys, was a pleasant surprise. I’m not quite sure I can recall the last time a novel hooked me so immediately. It started off well enough, but man do it get interesting quick. Thankfully, this is a relatively quick paced book so I was just able to power through it in a day.
A great example of what a coming of age story should be about, I would even place it up there with Stand By Me. Robin, goes through a lot in this novel, experiences events that change him in such a short span of time, I found many of his struggles to be very relatable (despite this being set in the 70s). I appreciated that this was less a novel about romance, but about facing hard truths; about yourself and others.
(Also, completely wrong decade, but the perfect song for this book has got to be The Middle)
