Outside my normal genre, but my kids love this series, and we listened to it together on a road trip. Applegate is a skilled writer and her creativity here is on full display. I'm not sure I'll read the other two in the series (this works fine as a standalone book), but it is 100 percent related to my lack of interest in the genre not the book itself.
