This was a story I haven't read before, which was cool, but I thought the world building and character development were a bit thin, and I didn't like it that the family (aside from the father) all seemed to be awful people. Seriously, the daughter at one point killed the class hamster? And is still supposed to be a likeable character that we root for? No thank you.
