Jane Austen’s last novel.  Anne Elliot is our heroine, once betrothed to Frederick Wentworth but persuaded by her family that it was not a good match now many years have passed and he has returned and chance has caused their paths to cross once again awkwardness ensues.

I do love the story have read it before and seen at least two film adaptations which I thought were great.  I must admit I do find the novel hard to read as you really have to concentrate as the language and sentence structure is difficult and so very different for a modern reader you do gradually get use to it and it is so worth it.  The characters, setting, descriptions and feelings spring from the page as they are so vivid.  I decided this time to buy a hardback Collector’s Library edition so that I can read it again as I know I will in the future some books you just need to have a copy of.
