Not my kind of book, which probably wasn't helped much by the fact that I hated the audiobook narration (narrator was a little dry, which didn't help much with the entire chapters dedicated solely to how things worked), and I tend to prefer books that are more character driven.  

I've read hard sci fi I've liked (An Arthur C. Clarke short story anthology, for instance), but overall the genre just isn't for me.
