Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
5.0
I was recommended this book in one of the FB groups I'm in! :)
Safe to say I was quite happy with it. This is my first book from Lisa Kleypas, so I am not familiar with her writing style.
The book is set in Victorian England (1840s) and one of the things I really liked about the book is a strong female character and the redeemable rake. Evie has a stammer and has therefore had problems talking to men and people in general outside of her small bubble of wallflower friends.
She's also got some serious issues with her family which hasn't helped.
Her character arc really grows through the book and we can see this clearly, it was really lovely.
The same goes for Sebastian, he was quite the rake, but with Evie his character also grows into something more.
This is a marriage of convenience, Evie needs to escape her family and Sebastian is in dire need of funds. The book is full of steamy content, it's def. got a high heat level.
It's also got the romance and lighthearted content, as well as a good plot - when attempts are made on Evies life.
All in all I really liked this book and I would highly recommend it to other historical readers. :)
