Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare, Kelly Link, Robin Wasserman, Maureen Johnson, Sarah Rees Brennan
4.0
honestly I was just here for the jessa content and the mentions of Will herondale and I was satisfied with that
no but seriously these novellas were really enjoyable! I love that cassie is setting up for the wicked powers and that comes through a little bit but there’s also bigger hints at the last hours and of course references to the already completed series.
I do tend to like Cassie’s novels more because she has more room for development and stuff but these are really great snapshots into what we’ll be exploring in the upcoming series so it is really exciting.
but also I was really just here for the many mentions of Will herondale, all of which broke me. particularly:
- “I thought I would walk with you a little way, my parabatai.” “How far?” asked Jem. Will smiled. “Need you ask? I will go with you as far as I possibly may.”
-“There was a lightness in Jem’s chest that he realized, finally, was joy. He saw that joy mirrored in his parabatai’s face. The face of the one you love is the best mirror of all. It shows you your own happiness and your own pain and it helps you to bear both, because to bear either alone is to be overwhelmed by the flood...The night was very beautiful and warm, and they were both young.”
in conclusion: nothing has changed and I would still die for William Herondale!
