"When I looked at you, it was like a jolt of electricity ran through me. That's when I realized how much excitement had been missing from my life."
I didn't expect much when I started reading but damn this book SERVED, I can now say I'm a fan of the author's work. This book reminds me of books written by Tessa Bailey, especially with the small town setting and the spice, which reminds me of the Bellinger Sisters duology. Reading this feels like watching a romcom series, probably because of the writing style which I enjoy, and the pacing which makes each chapter feel like a new episode.
Ben and Olivia were high school enemies who haven’t seen each other since. Years later, Ben returned to Shell Grove as a sheriff and met Olivia in the B&B she owns. They think nothing has changed between them, but they can't deny their growing chemistry.
The banter between the two characters was terrific. I like how there are actual reasons for enemies in this book. It’s amusing to watch them irritate each other and get on each other’s nerves while also teasing each other when things get messy. Olivia is a likable character, and I mostly enjoyed Ben’s sweet dirty talks with her, except for the part where he refers to her as "woman" far too often.
I'm curious about one thing though...So Olivia's dad is now dating or even married Ben's mom, which makes Olivia's dad.... Ben's stepdad... Is it legal? Well, technically... They have the same blood... BUT ISN'T IT AWKWARD??
I'm curious about one thing though...
If you’re looking for a witty, funny, and romantic read with good spice, I’d recommend this for you!
