Number 11 by Jonathan Coe
3.0
Hmm. Rather disappointed with this one I must say. I'm a Coe fan, and this is my least favourite of thoee I've read from him. The first half felt like it was written by someone else entirely, it was only towards the end of the book that the innate Coe-ness that I love entered in.
It bills itself as satire, which I guess it is in some places but it wasn't really ever funny and I think of satire as funny...
I don't know. It wasn't really unenjoyable but it wasn't all that enjoyable either. Fairly clever in places. Relatable. Spot on about the state of England. A mixed bag.
