A Cowboy Like You by Donna Grant
4.0
I have really liked this series so far. This one tells the story of Danny, the sheriff in town, who is liked by all due to his easy going friendly nature. However sometimes he just wants to be alone, not talking with everyone from town. So when he decided to eat at the truck stop to enjoy dinner and a view, he is surprised when a car pulls in immediately following another that ends in an arrest.
He was even more surprise when it is a woman from his past that he always had a crush on. He never thought Skylar would ever come back to town, she was a free spirit who was always destined to leave their small town. Skylar always trusted Danny, and when she sees him she finally breaks down. Telling him about her abusive ex, and all that has happened.
Danny fights to keep her safe, even when her ex has a lot of money and isn't afraid to play dirty. He can't believe she is back and wants to make sure she knows exactly how he feels and if they can finally have their chance.
While this talked about a really heavy subject matter, it also showed the lightness in the world when good people help each other out. Loved the small town charm and the fight in them both for justice.
I received a free copy from the publisher from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
