The Secret History by Donna Tartt
3.5
(3.5 ⭐️) Can a book gaslight you or emotionally manipulate you? I think that after reading this my answer would be yes, yes it can. I really enjoyed this a lot but it’s such a strange feeling to have after reading a book. This story was just all morally grey characters and is wild start to finish. I can see why this is so hyped up, but if you don’t like long non-interrupted thoughts on Ancient Greek literature, myth, and philosophy you probably will not like this. In the end I do wish some of the characters and plot lines were more fleshed out than they actually were. Stuff would be introduced and then dropped or dismissed way too quick towards the end.
(Also if you romanticize Henry (or anybody in this book, let’s be honest here) I’ve got my eye on you sis
