The Bone Ships by RJ Barker

4.0

Initially, I did not like this book. The opening didn't catch me and I floundered and dragged my feet but forced myself to keep going as an exercise in discipline. I'm glad I did, though, because the book's latter half was far more enjoyable. Once I crossed the halfway mark the story continuously felt like it was building towards bigger odds and better conflicts in future books.

I'm sure what I am describing is just good worldbuilding, but with this book, I found the politics of the world believable and how the language of the world warped around it very artful. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future of the series holds.
