Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Y. Davis
5.0
every time i take the time to learn and reflect about western systems of "justice", i get so angry, so helpless, so sad.
i see hundreds of cops being sent to arrest peaceful student protesters for ceasefire in germany.
climate activists being sentenced to death in nigeria after pressure by mega corporations like shell.
fiscal crimes going unpunished again and again.
politicians being known rapists, yet staying in office, being re-elected.
and all around me a society of people suffering under late stage capitalism still convinced, that prisons and the police are what is needed for "justice".
angela davis is an incredible person and i am very glad to have learned about her writings. her fight for a socialist future should be an inspiration for us all.
i notice that i have made this all about myself, but i just don't have many coherent or knowledgeable thoughts or even much humility in me at the moment. i'm just tired and i want these exams to be over.รค
